Just arrived in NYC

April 30th, 2026. Just arrived in NYC via JFK.

I accepted an internal job offer at the company I’m working for as a legal counsel since 5 years: a relocation from the Paris office to the one we have in New York City, taking the opened position of the in-house counsel focused on North America contracts. Today is my arrival in the US !

Flight overseas

I was super as excited during my flight traveling across Atlantic, and could not sleep. Best way to arrive, I just had to assume a very long day following the sun to avoid the jet lag. Could appreciate a last French meal (coquilles St Jacques et noix), thanks to Air France chef! As a French ogre, I managed to get a second round. All set.

Arrival, immigration, privacy violation?

I was expecting a though check at arrival, especially due to my E2 visa that is a business visa allowing to work, and not a touristic one. More matters to be challenged. During my visa application I had to disclose any social networks and email addresses I used during the last 5 years, and at the U.S. Embassy in Paris, the purpose of my visa was challenged. I also expected at least a quick check of my phone, to check if I told the truth. This is even more ironic as I’m a data privacy lawyer. However nothing happened, actually the immigration officer was very nice to me. She wished me good luck for my arrival and adventure in the US. I could directly get my luggage back, and took the air train to connect to NYC metro network. Just like in London, I was able to pay my ticket just by approaching my credit card or my phone with “tap to pay” system (not yet implemented in Paris).

Back to GTA Liberty City

After 11 years where I had the chance to spend a week as a fascinated tourist in NYC, I’m finally back to Liberty City IRL.

More to come :

Why did I choose to move to NYC?
E2 visa process: you got to be willing to!
